Drought synchronises with El Nino

Moisture stress is linked to rainfall deficit. The cycle of monsoon patterns are themselves determined by El Nino and La Nina cycles. The impact of El Nino lasts for about four years while the impact of La Nina lasts for about two years. together they make one geological cycle. The impact of deficit monsoon in the Indian Ocean Rim states thus has a critical bearing on agriculture, horticulture, poultry, food security, and biodiversity. The following pictures catch a glimpse of various manifestations of drought. Some drought prone areas urgently need

These withered forests leave a bleached scorched landscape behind after a forest fire. The sheer carbon these forests sink accounts for the largest source of sequestration. Loss of forests and bio diverse canopies accelerate Climate Change.
This bleak landscape shows the passing of a young healthy African elephant in the scorched Earth in the migrating corridor of elephants. Habitat reconstruction is critical to save endangered beasts from anthropogenic triggers of climate change
Another view of a bleak withered forest in a desertified land.
Caked earth caused by moisture stress leaves a parched landscape bereft of green cover, bio and zoo diversity.
Sand dunes, are the source of sand and dust storms. Arab States of West Asia and North Africa are very vulnerable to sand and dust storms. Regreening vulnerable areas affronts states and regions vulnerable to sand and dust storms. Sand dust storms have a vast impact on economy, agriculture, public health and the socio cultural fabric of these societies said representatives of civil society organisations participating in the 14th Conference of Parties at the UNCCD summit in New Delhi that seeks to neutralise land degradation.
Black sand - eroding in volcanic landscapes become fertile in the long term.

Mother Nature does not let us down no matter how bleak the future looks!

Sand dunes surface where the green cover dwindles consequent to moisture stress. While geological processes are inevitable and unstoppable, the cost of neglect in morbidly desertifying landscapes will be for future generations of humanity. The need for sustainable development and balanced growth shows in this arid landscape where soil productivity and fertility are negative.
